Additional Details
James R Lord was a P-47D Thunderbolt pilot with the 66th fighter squadron. He was piloting a plane in the Savon area off Northwest Italy, near the French border when it crashed off the coast of Corsica. He was declared missing in action on August 10, 1944.
His remains were located and identified and he was accounted for on September 25, 2018. He was laid to rest near his home at Center Cemetery in Conneaut, Ohio.
His older brother Sergeant William Roy Lord Jr served with the US Army Air Corps on a bomber crew and was reported missing in action on July 12, 1944. |
