Dante Sylvester Tini was born and raised in the area of Virginia, Minnesota. He was the son of Daniel Tini and Rachel Georgi.In 1940 he graduated from Virginia High School. He was active in the Boys Glee Club, Band, Assembly Committee, Booster Club and the Cosmopolitan Club. He enlisted in the Navy soon after and reported for duty aboard the USS Oklahoma on October 12, 1940. Music was always present in his life and was an accomplished accordion player. He had sent his accordion home only days prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor and it is a cherished family heirloom. On August 13, 2018 the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced that his remains had been identified and accounted for. He has been laid to rest near his family at Calvary Cemetery in Virginia, Minnesota. |

USS Midway Museum 75th Pearl Harbor Wall of Honor
Located at the harbor in downtown San Diego, California at Navy Pier. The USS Midway is a living, floating museum, housing an extensive collection of aircraft, many of which were built in Southern California. USS Midway saw active duty from 1945 to 1992. Approximately 200,000 sailors proudly served onboard. In 2016 the USS Midway hosted one of the premier events honoring the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Among the featured memorials was a Wall of Honor with over 1000 images of the fallen. Researched by the Honor States Group.
