Hollis K Almonrode was born in Livingston, Overton County, Tennessee. His family was later living in Polk County, Arkansas.
He was on the crew of the B-24L Liberator #44-41440 as part of a six plane formation that departed Pandaveswar India to search the Bay of Bengal for a B-29 that had not returned from a bombing mission. They were seen to veer away from the the rest of the group and did not return to base. Subsequent searches found that they had crashed on top of the Banjhikusam Mountain Range in Burma.
We identified 10 casualties in our archive related to the #44-41440 incident on November 5, 1944.
