Additional Details
Quiet and dependable, Louis was one of the unsung heroes of 2nd Platoon, C Co, 1/501st Infantry, 101st Airborne Division who regularly demonstrated personal courage and dedication to duty under conditions of heavy combat. Louis was killed while participating in an assault on a fortified hill near Tam Ky that was being defended by North Vietnamese Army regulars. He is not forgotten. - Don Gourley
A combat medic and eleven infantrymen died on and around the hill that day. Forty-six men were wounded nearly overwhelming the 27th Evac Hospital at Chu Lai as they were brought in, most of them after dark. |
