Additional Details
Lawrence Martin Elstead was the son of Olaf Nicholas Bernhoff Elstead and Gudrun Aaslie.
On April 24, 1943 he was on the crew of the B-17G #42-3132 during a routine ferry mission from Gander Bay in Newfoundland to Prestwick, Scotland. It was reported that they encountered a severe storm and ditched in the Atlantic Ocean. They had sent a radio distress that abruptly ended after five minutes. There were no survivors and all onboard are considered missing in action.
